Cropy.it is a native screenshot and clipboard app for macOS and Windows. The name stands for "Crop + Copy": you grab a screen area, mark up what matters and copy or share it — while keeping an eye on your entire clipboard history along the way. Everything happens 100% locally on your device, with no account and no cloud. More on that under 100% local.

Cropy.it runs on macOS 14 or later (Apple Silicon and Intel Macs) and on Windows 10/11 (64-bit).

You download Cropy.it free from cropy.it — for macOS as an Apple-notarized app. On first launch, Cropy.it asks whether it should install itself into the Applications folder; one click is all it takes, you don't need to move anything manually. Updates then arrive automatically through the built-in update feature. Distribution via the Mac App Store may be added later.

Launch Cropy.it and start a capture from the menu bar item or your global hotkey. You then drag out an area — automatic window detection suggests whole windows, and the pixel magnifier helps you select down to the pixel. Right afterwards you land in the editor.

Yes. For screenshots, macOS requires the Screen & System Audio Recording permission — you grant it once in System Settings under "Privacy & Security" → "Screen & System Audio Recording". For the global hotkeys, the "Accessibility" permission may also be needed. These approvals are required by the operating system, not by us — and your content does not leave your device because of them.

No terminal needed: open Cropy.it from the menu bar icon, go to Settings → About and click “Uninstall Cropy.it…” at the bottom. After a confirmation, Cropy.it removes itself completely — the app moves to the Trash and all data, settings, screenshots and history, as well as the granted permissions (Screen Recording, Accessibility), are deleted. Nothing is left behind. Alternatively, you can simply drag Cropy.it from your Applications folder to the Trash, like any Mac app.

In the editor you mark up what matters with arrows, rectangles, ellipses and freehand, add text and number your steps with number badges. Sensitive spots can be blurred out with blur or pixelate.

Cropy.it remembers what you copy — both text and images. You search the history with live search, pin frequent items as favorites and never have to fret about "copying over" something again. Duplicates are avoided automatically so your history stays tidy.

Yes. With OCR / Live Text, Cropy.it recognizes text in your screenshot so you can select and copy it — even when the original was just an image. The text recognition runs locally on your device.

Pick the Blur tool in the editor and drag over the spot you want to hide — either as a soft blur or as a coarse pixelation. Handy for names, email addresses or account numbers in screenshots.

You can share directly via AirDrop, Mail or Messages right from Cropy.it, or save the image as a file. That way your finished, annotated crop ends up where you need it with just a few clicks.

Cropy.it comes with global hotkeys so you can trigger capture and history from anywhere — even without Cropy.it in the foreground. That keeps your workflow fast, no matter which app you're currently in.

No. Cropy.it is 100% local: no server, no cloud, no account. Your screenshots and your clipboard history are stored exclusively on your device and don't leave it because of us. You'll find the details on the Privacy Policy page and under 100% local.

No. There is no tracking, no analytics and no telemetry. Cropy.it needs no account and sends your content nowhere. What the provider records legally on this is set out in the Privacy Policy.

Content from password apps is ignored automatically by Cropy.it and never even added to the history. That way credentials don't accidentally end up in your history.

Yes. You can protect access to sensitive content with Touch ID. That keeps your clipboard history safe from prying eyes, even if someone briefly sits down at your computer.

Yes. Since all data lives only locally, you keep full control and can remove entries again in Cropy.it. There is no server-side copy that would also need deleting.

You can download Cropy.it for free and try it for 30 days. After that, the full version costs 5,99 € as a one-time purchase — no subscription. You pay once and use the app for good, with free updates. There are no recurring fees.

Cropy.it keeps running: you can still take screenshots — they go straight to your clipboard. Without activation, the editor (markup, blur, arrows, numbering, OCR) and the screenshot & clipboard history are locked. The one-time purchase (5,99 €) unlocks everything for good — anytime, right inside the app.

Yes. You receive new versions and improvements for free through the app's built-in update feature — automatically or with an update at the push of a button.

When you buy through cropy.it, the license is tied to you and usable on your devices within the scope of the license. Family sharing in the App Store sense isn't available with a direct purchase. Should Cropy.it also become available via the App Store in the future, that store's family sharing rules would apply there.

When you buy through cropy.it, the provider (appoxi, Aleyna Sönmez) is your contractual partner for the app and license. Payment processing runs through Stripe; the seller and Merchant of Record is Link, LLC (a Stripe company), which also handles the invoice and VAT. For a later purchase through an App Store, the respective store operator (Apple or Microsoft) would be responsible for the transaction.

Yes — and it's available now. You download Cropy.it free from cropy.it for Windows 10/11 (64-bit); no admin rights needed. A Microsoft Store listing may follow later, but the download on our site is the way to get it today.
